Niagara College has implemented College Practices to ensure consistency in the rules and regulations governing both academic and college life. This web index provides links to the most current versions of the Niagara College practices.

The College Practices are managed by Pat Altoft, who acts as the 'gatekeeper' for the purpose of updating, revising and/or adding new practices. Please contact Pat at paltoft@niagaracollege.ca if there are any improvements that you would like to recommend.

Practice Updates

February 2, 2012 -- The practice on Curriculum Committees was revised.

January 18, 2012 -- The practice on Faculty Credentials for Bachelor's Degree Teaching was revised.

December 1, 2011 -- The practice on Tuition Subsidy for Dependent Children was revised to reflect changes in legislation.

November 30, 2011 -- The practice on Quality Assurance and Program Review was revised.  The practice on Course Evaluation was revised and renamed to Course Feedback.

November 2, 2011 -- The revised practice on Graduation and Promotion Requirements was approved.

September 23, 2011 -- The revised practice on Interruption of Normal Operations was approved.

September 21, 2011 -- Four practices were revised and approved:  Faculty Credentials for Bachelor Degree Teaching, Grading and the Transcript, and Transfer Credit and Advanced Standing.

June 8, 2011 -- A new practice called Posting Temporary Interior Signage within College Buildings was approved.  The practice on Behaviour and Risk Assessment was revised and renamed to Behaviour and Risk Management.

May 11, 2011 -- The Copyright Compliance practice was revised and a new practice on Copyright Compliance - Fair Dealing was approved.  A new practice called Hot Work was approved.  The practice on Administrative Personnel in CE Teaching was revised and renamed to Administrative Supervisory Personnel Teaching.

April 23, 2011 -- The practice on Compensation for Support Staff Who Perform Teaching Duties was revised.

April 1, 2011 -- The Niagara College practices on Travel and Expense and Procurement have been revised.

March 30, 2011 -- The practice on Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition has been revised.

March 23, 2011 --  Two new practices have been approved -- Full Time Complement Positions and Use of Laser Pointers.  The Admission to Residence practice has been revised and moved to the Admissions category.

March 9, 2011 -- The practice on Incident or Accident Report has been revised.  The practice on Learning Resource Centres has had major revisions and has been renamed to NC Libraries and Learning Commons.
