About This Certificate
The convention, exposition and meeting industry continues to grow in Niagara. It is expected that the planned convention center expansion will further increase the number of large conventions. Increasingly, organizations in this industry are requiring trained professionals to meet their needs.
The Niagara Region enjoys a number of unique advantages. It has a broad range of tourism events and attractions, it plays host to many national and international conferences, conventions and functions.
This certificate program is designed to provide professional training and credentials by updating the knowledge and skills of those presently pursuing, or wishing to pursue, a career in one of the many areas of this multi- faceted industry.
For graduates already employed in this field, the skills and understanding developed as a result of this program will enhance opportunities for career advancement.
Program Delivery
Individual courses are open to all students whether or not they are working toward the certificate.

Career Opportunities
Graduates new to the industry may find employment as meeting planners in corporations, trade and professional associations, convention/visitor bureaus and specialized travel agencies.
Graduates may also find a variety of career opportunities on the supply side of the industry: trade shows, congress/convention centres, in-hotel catering/banquet facilities and sales and marketing departments.

Obtaining Your Certificate (Graduation)
Upon completion of all requirements, the student must complete an “application to graduate” form available from the Registrar’s Office. Students will be required to pay a $25 fee to attend the convocation ceremony in the fall.
The fee is payable with the “application to graduate” form. Applications and fees are to be returned to the Registrar’s Office. For more information, contact the Registrar’s Office.
