Suzanne Johnston

Suzanne Johnston, who is the President of the Niagara Health System (NHS), is dedicated to the community of Niagara and bringing quality healthcare to its residents, visitors, and more.

With an extensive resume and over 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare and government, Suzanne continues to build strong relationships and trust within the community. With her commitment to volunteer, staff, physician, and community engagement, Suzanne is helping to shape the Niagara Health System to be a leader in Canadian healthcare.

Prior to her current role with NHS, Suzanne served as Vice President, Clinical Programs, and Chief Nursing Officer at Northern Health Authority. It is an organization serving northern B.C. offering healthcare and community services, as well as specialized services to diverse populations including aboriginal Canadians. In addition, she served as Chief Operating Officer for Northern Health Authority’s northwest region.

Suzanne obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from the University of New Brunswick and completed her doctoral studies at the College of Nursing, University of Arizona. She has also participated in executive education at the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
