NC’s Monster Dash cancelled

As if the idea of running 5 km isn’t scary enough, Niagara College is looking for participants for its first-ever Monster Dash, an in-costume race that will raise funds for the College’s United Way Campaign.

The October 17 family-friendly fun run is open to students, staff and the community. Participants are encouraged to show up in costume  – the best-dressed runner and top fundraiser will win prizes, in addition to other day-of prizes. There is also an optional 2.5 km Monster Half Dash for kids. The minimum fundraised donation for entry is $35, with a $5 discount for students. Registration for children under five is free. All participants will receive a free lunch and a water bottle.

“The Monster Dash is a fun way to support an important community resource, while celebrating the fall season,” said Lesley Calvin, co-chair of the Niagara College United Way Committee and manager of Niagara College’s Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership, which is organizing the event. “We hope the community will join us for this exciting event.

The run is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. outside of the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. For more information or to register for the event, visit Online registration closes at midnight on Oct. 15 and registration will be available on the day of the event.
