A spring tradition that dates back to 1984 will continue this June as Niagara College’s Part-Time Studies department embarks on two tall ship cruises aboard the Empire Sandy.
The sailings include a Tall Ship Twilight Cruise and a Historical Daytime Cruise and are open to the public.
The Tall Ship Twilight Cruise sets sail on Friday June 5 at 7:30 pm and offers a relaxing evening on Lake Ontario from dusk until 11 p.m. Guests enjoy a variety of appetizers a full-course dinner dessert and coffee/tea with live entertainment by Rich and the Poor Boys. A cash bar will be available for guests 19 and older. The cost for the cruise is $79.
On Saturday June 6 noted local historian author and professor Wesley Turner will lead the Daytime Historical Cruise: Celebrating 200 Years of Peace 1815-2015 which will explore the War of 1812 – often viewed as one of the bloodiest military conflicts in history – and the two centuries of peace that have followed. This historical journey embarks from Port Dalhousie at 10:30 a.m. and will include refreshments a full-course meal in the afternoon dessert coffee and tea. The cost for the cruise is $98.
