Scottish Rite of Freemasonry gift supports NC technology students

The Niagara Valley of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry presented a $50000 gift today in support of students in Niagara College’s School of Technology Studies.

The gift will be used to establish the Niagara Valley Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Scholarship which will provide an annual award to a student in a technology program at Niagara College. 

“We’re very pleased that Niagara Valley of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is making this important investment in student learning and success” said Sean Kennedy CEO of the Niagara College Foundation and vice president Student and External Relations. “It’s gifts like these that help students to pursue and achieve their academic dreams. We’re very grateful for this support.”

The Niagara Valley of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a fraternal organization consisting of Elgin Lodge of Perfection and the Niagara Chapter of Rose Croix and is based on Craft Lodge Masonry seen in various communities.

“As the educational wing of masonry and given the connection to historical stonemasons and the building trades of Europe it was deemed appropriate that the Scottish Rite here in Niagara establish a scholarship fund at Niagara College to aid students in the School of Technology” said Mike Palmer principal officer of Elgin Lodge.

As part of Niagara College’s Media Trades and Technology Division Niagara College’s School of Technology Studies offers a broad range of programs including engineering technician and technologist programs in photonics civil computer construction electrical and electronics mechanical and renewable energies.

Niagara College offers more than 100 diploma bachelor degree and advanced level programs at campuses in Welland Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls; as well as more than 600 credit vocational and general interest Continuing Education courses.
