He’s known as one of the top social media influencers in the world and on Thursday Dec. 12 marketing guru Scott Stratten will visit a Niagara College classroom – a visit that was initiated and arranged via Twitter.
The highly acclaimed and in-demand speaker Scott Stratten who is the author of three best-selling business books president of Un-Marketing and has more than 161350 followers on Twitter will be speaking to the college’s Principles of Marketing class at NC’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus.
Stratten offered to pay a visit to the class in October via Twitter after he saw several students tweeting about receiving a copy of his second book The Book of Business Awesome in class. Within minutes of the students’ tweets Stratten responded with an offer to speak to the class for another tweet. “I saw this sudden flood of tweets from the class and thought it was awesome. They sent a picture of the entire class holding up their books” said Stratten. “I tweeted back that if they sent another pic of them flashing the rock and roll hand gesture I’d buy them doughnuts and come to the class and so they did.”
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and is a testament to the power and reach of social media” said Jessica Potts professor of the Principles of Marketing Class that Stratten will visit. “Who knew that by sending tweets to Scott Stratten he not only paid attention but responded interacting in real time with our students and offered to come here to speak to our class.”
In preparation for his visit Stratten had almost 90 copies of his newest book QR Codes Kill Kittens sent to the class. He plans on speaking to the students about technology and social media and “whatever they ask.”
Stratten ran his UnAgency for a nearly a decade before solely focusing on speaking at events for companies like PepsiCo Adobe Red Cross Hard Rock Cafe Cirque du Soleil Saks Fifth Avenue Deloitte and Fidelity Investments guiding their way through the viral/social media and relationship marketing landscape. He was named one of the top five social media influencers in the world on Forbes.com and was named one of America’s 10 Marketing Gurus by Business Review USA. He has recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal tHuffington Post USA Today Entrepreneur Magazine CNN.com Inc.com and Fast Company.
