Doug Wilford

Doug Willford was born and raised in the Niagara Region and resides in Welland. After graduation, Doug accepted a position at Humber College working as a supervisor in the Library for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003.

From 1978 to 1980, Doug worked overseas as a Library Technician for the Senior High School Library for the Department of National Defence Overseas Teachers on the Canadian Forces Base in Baden, West Germany, and spent as much time as possible travelling and exploring Europe.

Doug was instrumental in organizing the Ontario Association of Library Technicians/Association des Bibliotechniciens de l’Ontario Technicians at Humber College in 1973 and served as the first president of the Association. He was also involved with the formation of the Toronto Area Library Technicians Association and is a member of the Halton Peel Library Technicians Association.

Since retiring and moving back to the Niagara region, Doug has become actively involved with a number of volunteer groups including the Niagara College Alumni Council, Wesley United Church Council and Retirement Board of Directors, Humber College Retirees Board of Directors and the Wainfleet Historical Society Board of Directors. He drives part-time for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
